Cycling Good Cheer 2025

One of my favourite winter rides is by far Cycling Good Cheer; a ride organized by Community Bikeways. This is the sixth year they put it together with this year’s ride starting at Raccoon Park and ending at Biidaasige Park with feeder rides coming from High Park, North York (a.k.a. the North Pole), Scarborough, and the St. Lawrence Market. Helen and Mozzie came along as they did last year, while it was a much-needed positive ride after my LeMond road bike got stolen on Thursday while waiting to depute on a bike plan item at City Hall.

By the time we reached Yonge Street at Rosedale Station, the High Park feeder ride with Santa and Ruby the Red Nosed Reindeer had just passed us, so we were able to follow them up along Yonge.

Some waving along Yonge Street as we made our way up to Raccoon Park.

The North York feeder ride had already arrived at Raccoon Park by the time we got there. We were also handed some mini Christmas donuts at that park.

Of course, Mozzie has to play with the ball whenever he’s at a park! 😊

The snowman was put on the back of Santa’s bike trailer.

Janet Joy (a.k.a. Ruby) and Kelly gave some pre ride instructions before we rolled off.

The St. Lawrence Market feeder ride arrived just as we rolled out. I didn’t take any photos until arriving at Scrivener Square, but Jun has you covered here.

There’s Bob, Jess, and Kay Pea with Ali’s banana outfit clearly visible.

A brief regroup at One Davenport to pick up the Grinch and the Scarborough riders. There must have been dozens of us by this point.

At Yonge and Wellesley. Just before we had to pull over to allow a fire truck through.

Mozzie in his Mozzmobile.

Passing by Yonge and Grosvenor. One thing about this ride is even drivers are in a good mood honking and waving at us as we rolled, while a number of them admired Mozzie.

There’s Ali, Toronto’s Bicycle Mayor!

Can’t forget Santa! 😉

Just north of King Street.

Turned left onto Queen’s Quay.

A brief stop at Sherbourne Common to allow people to use the bathroom. While the rest of the ride continued to Biidaasige Park, Helen, Mozzie, and I headed back home since Mozzie was getting cold.

Thanks Community Bikeways as always for organizing this ride! Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays.
