In late November 2021, the City of Toronto started construction of the Glen Road pedestrian bridge crossing Rosedale Valley Road which was originally expected to be completed by November 2023. As with many construction projects in Toronto, these timelines tend to get delayed. Today, I’m pleased to report the fences have finally come down and the bridge is open for pedestrians and cyclists as a quieter alternative to Sherbourne Street!
The small plaza next to the bridge and Sherbourne Station has some nice pavers, while the fencing has been piled to be hauled away later.
A few ring and post stands can be found while some landscaping work had been done here.
The entrances to Sherbourne Station and the bridge.
Going under the tunnel reveals a ramp and a staircase on either side next to the bridge.
Looking back towards the tunnel.
The stairs on the north side of Bloor have bicycle channels which were not found on the south side stairs.
However, the bicycle channel is made redundant with this ramp leading up to Bloor Street along with some new landscaping.

Mozzie seems to like the bridge! 😊 The surface is a lot softer than typical wood or asphalt.
However, the new suicide prevention barrier makes taking photos from the bridge less than ideal.
Each entrance now has “Bicyclists Slow” and “Shared Pathway” signage. I’ll take that over “Cyclists Dismount” any day! Also helps that the bridge is considerably wider than the previous one.
Some plastic bollards and metal bollards can be found at the Rosedale entrance, along with some fencing to be removed.
While not the most useful bridge around given the proximity of Sherbourne Street, it’s still nice to see this construction project finally over with! May have to check this bridge out during night time to see how it’s lit.
If you use a longer lens, wide open, and get closer to the fence, it should disappear in photos. Of course, camera phones don't do that quite the same way.
